Born in 1942, John Chate grew up in Croydon and built a life rooted in family, faith, and service to his community. After marrying, John moved to Moorebank, where they raised two sons, Paul and David (deceased).
John dedicated many years to the PMG, beginning as a Telegram Boy at Five Dock and rising through the ranks to become a respected Postal Master.
A man of strong community spirit, John was deeply involved in volunteer work with Scouts, the Lions Club, and Lions Hearing Dogs. He was also a devoted and long-serving member of the Narwee Baptist Church.
John will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his son Paul and daughter-in-law Michelle Chate, his brother Alan Chate and sister-in-law Liddy Fleet, cousins Sue Hannon, Lyn Goodhew, Kevin Goodhew and his grandchildren Joshua, Kyle, and Elisha, along with their families.
His legacy of kindness, service, and steadfast faith lives on in those who loved him.
